Can you tell me if my visa will be approved?
No, and neither can anyone else. Only the consulate decides, and it can refuse a well-prepared application. What this does is assess how well evidenced your file is on the things refusals actually cite — and tell you what to fix before you pay a government fee.
Why do Nigerian applicants get refused more often?
Refusal rates for Nigerian applicants run far above the global average — around 37% for UK visitor visas against roughly 15% globally, and higher still for Schengen. The most commonly cited grounds are weak demonstrable ties to Nigeria, funds that do not clearly support the trip described, and income that cannot be evidenced.
Is being self-employed a problem?
No. A trade with a steady customer base anchors you in Nigeria at least as firmly as a salaried job — the work cannot follow you abroad. What matters is whether the income can be shown: filings, a registered business, or consistent banking. That is a different question from how you earn.
