Mexico visa requirements from Nigeria
Nigerian passport holders normally need a visa for Mexico — but there is an exemption worth checking before you apply for anything. Holders of a valid visa for the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom or the Schengen area may enter Mexico without a Mexican visa. If you already hold one of those, the application you were about to start may be unnecessary.

Who needs a visa for Mexico?
By passport, for the nationalities we most often process. Where an answer is conditional it depends on the length of your stay, the purpose of the trip, or what other visas you already hold — tell us your situation and we will confirm it.

What actually decides a Mexico application
That exemption is the single most useful fact on this page, and it is the first thing our desk checks. A good proportion of the people who come to us asking about a Mexican visa already hold a US or Schengen visa from an earlier trip and simply have not connected the two. Where the exemption does not apply, the Mexican application itself is a fairly standard consular one with a modest fee.
Check the exemption before paying for anything
A valid US, Canadian, UK or Schengen visa may remove the need for a Mexican visa entirely. Bring your passport to the desk and we will check what you already hold first — it is the cheapest possible outcome and it takes a few minutes.
Valid means valid on the day you travel
If you are relying on the exemption, the qualifying visa has to be current for your travel dates, not merely something you once held. An expired US visa does not carry the exemption, and that is a check to make before booking rather than at the airport.
The airline will check at the gate
Carriers verify entry documents before boarding and are liable if they carry someone who is refused entry. If you are travelling on the exemption, carry the qualifying visa and be ready to show it — the exemption is only useful if you can evidence it.
How Rayonner helps
Holders of valid USA / Canada / UK / Schengen visas qualify for visa-free entry — Rayonner checks eligibility first.
In practice that means we check the document set against what the mission is currently asking for, flag what is missing or inconsistent before it is submitted rather than after it is refused, and book the flights and accommodation the application needs — as reservations, so you are not buying non-refundable travel against a decision you do not yet have. We are an IATA Accredited Travel Agent, so the ticketing and the visa file are handled by the same people.
This page is first-time guidance, not a legal source. The embassy, consulate or immigration authority for your destination is the only authority on its own requirements, and they can change without notice. Fees shown are what the government charges and are estimates — they are paid by you to the mission, and Rayonner's processing fee is separate and quoted before you commit. No agency, including this one, decides or can guarantee the outcome of a visa application.

Mexico visa: common questions
Do Nigerian passport holders need a visa for Mexico?
Yes. Nigerian passport holders need a visa for Mexico, and it must be arranged before you travel rather than on arrival.
How long does a Mexico visa take to process?
10–20 business days. That is the published window rather than a promise — missions do move, and a file that comes back with a query starts the clock again. Work backwards from your travel date and leave margin.
How much does a Mexico visa cost?
The government charge is USD 48. You pay that to the embassy or consulate directly. Rayonner's processing fee is separate from it and is quoted to you before you commit to anything.
Can I enter Mexico with a US visa on a Nigerian passport?
A valid US visa is one of the qualifying documents for visa-free entry to Mexico, alongside valid Canadian, UK and Schengen visas. It must be current for your travel dates, and you should carry it and expect to show it at check-in as well as on arrival. We confirm your specific situation before you book.
What if my qualifying visa expires before the trip?
Then the exemption does not apply and you need a Mexican visa in the ordinary way. This is why the check is worth doing at the planning stage rather than the week before — discovering it at the airport leaves you with no options at all.
Flights you will need for this trip
We book the travel and the visa together, so the dates on your application and the dates on your reservation are the same dates.
