Qatar visa requirements from Nigeria

Nigerian passport holders need a visa for Qatar, and the usual route is unusual: most tourist visas are processed through the airline rather than through a consulate, against a confirmed Qatar Airways booking. That makes the ticket and the visa parts of the same transaction, which is convenient when the booking is handled properly and awkward when it is not.

Who needs a visa for Qatar?

By passport, for the nationalities we most often process. Where an answer is conditional it depends on the length of your stay, the purpose of the trip, or what other visas you already hold — tell us your situation and we will confirm it.

Qatar visa requirements: what you need

The document set we work to. Missions ask for additional items depending on the visa class and your circumstances, and we tell you which apply to you before anything is submitted.

  • International passport valid for 6 months past travel
  • Confirmed Qatar Airways ticket (most tourist visas processed via airline)
  • Hotel booking
  • Recent passport-style photo

What actually decides a Qatar application

Doha is two destinations at once. It is a short-stay city visit — increasingly for sport and events — and it is one of the best-connected transfer points between Nigeria and Asia. Whether you need a visa at all depends on which of those you are doing: transiting airside on a single ticket to somewhere else is a different question from leaving the airport.

Transit and entry are not the same question

If you are connecting airside on one ticket you generally do not need an entry visa. The moment you plan to leave the airport — even for a night — you are entering the country and the requirement changes. Decide which you are doing before you book, because it changes what has to be arranged.

The visa is tied to the booking that carried it

Because the application usually rides on a confirmed Qatar Airways ticket, changing the flights afterwards can disturb the visa as well as the fare. Tell us before you change anything so we can sequence it properly.

Hotel booking is part of the application

A confirmed hotel booking is normally required alongside the ticket. If you are staying with someone, say so at the outset — the documentation for that is different and gathering it late is what delays an otherwise quick application.

How Rayonner helps

Quick processing. Often bundled with Qatar Airways tickets that Rayonner books for you in the same flow.

In practice that means we check the document set against what the mission is currently asking for, flag what is missing or inconsistent before it is submitted rather than after it is refused, and book the flights and accommodation the application needs — as reservations, so you are not buying non-refundable travel against a decision you do not yet have. We are an IATA Accredited Travel Agent, so the ticketing and the visa file are handled by the same people.

This page is first-time guidance, not a legal source. The embassy, consulate or immigration authority for your destination is the only authority on its own requirements, and they can change without notice. Fees shown are what the government charges and are estimates — they are paid by you to the mission, and Rayonner's processing fee is separate and quoted before you commit. No agency, including this one, decides or can guarantee the outcome of a visa application.

Qatar visa: common questions

Do Nigerian passport holders need a visa for Qatar?

Yes. Nigerian passport holders need a visa for Qatar, and it must be arranged before you travel rather than on arrival.

How long does a Qatar visa take to process?

5–10 business days. That is the published window rather than a promise — missions do move, and a file that comes back with a query starts the clock again. Work backwards from your travel date and leave margin.

How much does a Qatar visa cost?

The government charge is QAR 100 (tourist, 30 days). You pay that to the embassy or consulate directly. Rayonner's processing fee is separate from it and is quoted to you before you commit to anything.

Do I need a Qatar visa if I am only connecting in Doha?

Not if you stay airside and your onward flight is on the same ticket. If you want to leave the airport during a long layover, that is entry rather than transit and needs the appropriate permission. Ask us to confirm against your specific itinerary — the answer depends on your routing, not on a general rule.

Can Rayonner arrange the Qatar visa with my flight booking?

Yes, and on this route that is usually the sensible order, because the tourist visa is normally processed against a confirmed airline booking. We book the flights and run the visa application in the same flow rather than leaving you to reconcile two separate processes.

Flights you will need for this trip

We book the travel and the visa together, so the dates on your application and the dates on your reservation are the same dates.
